Perhaps you're suppose to pull a fuse?
I added an auxiliary charging system to my toad, a Saturn SL automatic. So when the RV is towing the car, it's also keeping the car's battery charged. Because of that, there's never a need to remove any fuses.
All that's involved is a wire from the house batteries through a fuse to the 7-way connector, than a wire and a heavy duty diode running to the car battery. Any trailer shop will know what you need.
Simple setup and never a worry about a dead battery, even with a long haul trip, like up to Alaska.
