What is a "Smart Leveling System?"

I was just reading up on the K3 chassis and learned that they included a Smart Leveling System, SLS or a Smart Air Management System, SAMS.

I understand that these systems control the ride height and the leveling of the coach, but I don't completely understand when and how they do this?

Does the system keep the ride height constant so that each suspension is the same distance from the body of the coach, or does the system try to compensate for the crown in the road and inflate one side of the coach to make the low side higher?

From my perspective, this would be better and would provide a more comfortable ride.
  • HWH makes a similar system and will retrofit Active Air to your coach for a few more $$$$.

I own no stock in HWH and did not retrofit our MH.

The Comfort Drive that comes with your new Mountainaire will be what works to adjust for road crown and wind.
I've only test driven a Newmar with Comfort Drive and was very impressed.

Congratulations on your soon to be new coach.
That's quite a step up from your current one.:)

I'm getting the King Aire 4599 and loved the comfort drive on the test drive.

I spoke to the dealer this morning and he assures me that the smart leveling system will also adjust for the crown in the road to keep the coach level. The comfort drive will keep it heading straight and the SLS will keep it level. So I should be straight and level.

The Smart Air Management System by Hadley is an electronically controlled air management system that automatically levels the vehicle even in soft terrains or parking lots that prohibit jacks.

Each and every SAMS system is designed to meet the customer’s specific needs. The SAMS system is the first system in the industry to be able to raise and lower the chassis while moving at slow speeds.

That's interesting. I guess that means it doesn't do anything at normal driving speeds.

It's still probably useful for just stopping at a rest stop and letting out the slides without putting down the jacks.

I wonder if it does anything at highway speeds?
  • I copied this off the hadley web site and it says at slow speeds
