What is your average freeway/highway speed?

Speed limits exist for a reason and that limit is the "top" limit, not the required, or even suggested, speed. As questioned above, you suggest you must be driving "at least" 70 when there are many areas where the speed limit is substantially less. You have made a dangerous and inaccurate post and should apologize to everyone here for having done so.
I do drive 70-75 when appropriate but since I am currently in CA I would almost be guaranteed a ticket and roads like the 101 would throw everything in your RV off the shelves at 70+ MPH as you say is required.

And what speed do you recommend in California where the speed limit is 70 for cars and 55 for anybody towing anything?

If the speed limit for cars is 70 then they are going 75 to 80 mph. Darn that's a big difference and it seems unsafe to me also. I do understand that's how it is where you are.

DP, 50 mph avg for planning, 300 miles per day..

The Allison shifts into 6th around 62 so 62-63.

I have a diesel and am the same as everyone else. I go around 63 mph on the interstates and average 50 mph on the trip.

on the open road in our gasser i generally run the speed limit ir 68-mph, whichever is less; thru cities i tend to stay in the middle lane at the speed limit or with the flow of traffic, whichever is less. with stops this averages to roughly 50+ mph

I like to keep the speed around 62-64 on a gas Southwind.
