What to look for and to stay away from

That is a great motorhome. It will run with the coaches of today still. We have lots of people buying them and getting full paint and remodel done.

Acutely 2006 and newer for the Ford F-53 is better, I had a 2002 Flair 25Y on the Workhorse P-32 chassis and it was good, no issues, smooth coil fronts but it only had the GM 4 speed trans..

There was a fella on this forum that delivered coaches and said it was the best riding/handeling motorhome. It's their own chassis called Peak. Some years had steering bracket problems but is a easy fix. Steering bracket They have hydraulic disk brakes not air brakes.

Alpine's are billed as the Worlds best steering motorhome! They were built in Yakima WA. (Western RV) and Western RV made there own chassis. There a great solid built coach! On my short list of luxury DP's I love 3 coaches, Country Coach, Travel Supreme and Alpine. All three companies are now out of business but there is plenty of parts around.

What's everyone's .02 on a 1999 Alpine 36FDS? Pros and cons of a Alpine unit. Please be honest. Am I allowed to post the ad here?

If the motorhome has been well maintained and the previous owners have upgraded it over time, you can get yourself a very good coach. You will want to see the records and meet the people that owned it, if possible. At that price range, you are looking at a much older diesel and a somewhat older gas. You can also save money by going with a shorter coach - 36 feet or shorter.

It's hard to find the next one. I put mine on Craig's list late one Sunday evening and two days later it was gone. Now motorhome less and can't seem to find the next one.

Well we looked last night but most places were closing. The one place we looked at didn't have much to choose from. The ones we looked at were to outdated we don't want floral color interior. So it's going to come down to just finding the right one.

I listed my Toy Hauler on craigslist last night. Figure I would get more money selling on my own Vs trading it.

We bought new but the top two criteria for us were:

1) Floorplan - we wanted an open airy feel as we wanted to have a camping feel. We stay at State Parks, National Parks, ACOE campgrounds, etc. Almost never at a private campground. So many floorplans seemed dark to us (but obviously appealed to others).

2) Interior decoration - we specifically did not want a high-end feel for our motorhome. We wanted the kick-back rustic comfort ambiance. We were real happy with oak cabinets, cloth seating, and mid-range decor.

Those limited the choices but we finally found a MH that was just right for us. So, be sure to think about the interior style and the floorplan as part of your initial criteria!
