Once used some left over welding rod, jumper cables, two scouts wired together to tack together a front shock mount cracking on an old international scout in Baja25+ years ago..
On the motorhome, got a leak in the main air tank, little bigger than the jack on a cell phone head set. Jammed a trimmed tire plug in there, was able to make it home. Worried the whole tank would fracture. Looked like a rust hole, replaced the tank at home.
