Had the fuel pump go out on an old van I had... I think it was a 1965. We were out in the middle of nowhere, was able to tear it apart and use a piece of inner tube rubber for a diaphragm to get it back working.
On my motorcycle, I had a fuse blow on the ignition circuit so I was stopped dead- I found where the short was and got it out of the way so it wasn't grounding , but I didn't have a spare fuse. I walked around the shoulder of the road and found a cigarette pack that had the aluminum foil inside and ripped off a piece and wrapped the fuse with it to get home. Fun Stuff !
