Driving Hwy 2 in Montana in a very deserted area, my DP engine started derating. We were new to RVing and diesels so wasn't sure what happened. It had overheated. Radiator was empty. Crawled under and bottom hose had blown off. Everything was still there so I reinstalled the hose. Had water in my fresh tank, hooked up a hose and filled the radiator. Next town was a Cummins repair shop. Had him (the owner--no other workers employed there) drain, flush and refill with the correct antifreeze. While this was going on, my wife walked to the nearest gas station/convenience store. It had some slot machines. She won more than enough to pay for the radiator service.
Since then I make sure I always travel with water tank at least half full.
