But in any case, we are all familiar with manufacturers coming out with new, say, 2015 cars in the fall of 2014, which means they were being built a couple months before that.
Manufacturers can build as early as January 2nd of the previous year. I.E they could have built 2015 vehicles starting Jan 2nd of 2014.
The two limitations are:
1) The model year must include the same calendar year. I.E. some 2015s must be built during 2015, right up to Dec. 31st if needed.
2) The model year cannot include two January 1sts, hence the Jan 2nd limit.
