- FormerBoaterExplorerOctober 17th heading for Skidaway Island State Park outside of Savannah.
Long weekend with mother nature + historical Savannah (might have to enjoy some of the watering holes and restaurants while in town). - freestoneanglerExplorerThis thread is great. I'm really enjoying reading all the things you all are doing who, unlike me for the next two years, are free of the corporate shackles. Seriously, it is fun reading all the itineraries...some detailed, some completely random. Wherever you all go, have fun and leave some pavement for those of us with like plans.

I would feel a little uneasy about advertising being away and posting it up on the internet. Just saying. :)
I too am not so concerned. Even if u did find a crazy computer geek way of finding my address through my user name attached to my ip address attached to my lap top which was purchased with a credit card and u hacked into that bank account and then found out my home address.. Well u would find a load of laundry that needs to be done we left behind as well as a stack of dirty dishes we left behind. After that you would enter the kids room and find a mess of toys and stains on the carpet from markers they used to change the color of the rug. I would say all that work would prove one thing... Your crazy. haha Anyway as long as you don't offer too much personal details of yourself like home address or social security number you should be good. I hope.. - sowegoExplorerOur trip has been put off due to our new puppy that is not yet ready to travel. If we have a mid-winter thaw we might head down to Phoenix for a week or two to visit family. Other than that, maybe a short hop to Colorado for a couple of days. We generally don't snowbird anyways.
In-between we'll be building fence, finish oiling our barn home and will need to start feeding hay to the cattle in the next couple of months. We'll be at home with the wood burning cook stove roaring, a pot of chili simmering on top, a mug of hot cocoa in hand, watching a movie and looking out over a beautiful winter landscape!
Everyone out on the road...be safe and have fun! - tomman58Explorer

Packerbacker, we have been searching for a nice spot to go for a long weekend in SC. Any recommendations where you go, or is it a long term only place
We have a winter seasonal site at Myrtle Beach Travel Park from October thru the end of March. We also do some traveling from our campsite on occasion. Seasonal campers make up around a third of the capacity, the campground is primarily used by vacationers and weekenders.
Thanks Packer Backer, I was just checking out the web site for Myrtle Beach Travel Park. I may just drive down for a couple of days in the off season to check it out. Looks like they have a three night min for the off season.

Mine not till Jan but leave Asbury Park, NJ to Jacksonville, FL. From Jacksonville west along Rt 10 to Tucson, AZ. From Tucson to Vasalia, CA. Then to Reno and back to Jersey Shore along Rt 80. All in a three week span with two kids in a class A. Yup were nuts. If anyone has any good suggested campgrounds along the way please send me a message, still in the planning process. Thanks
Better build some slack time in if you are going across I80 in January. Some pretty good snowstorms that time of year not to mention most of the campgrounds are closed.
I assume you are going over Donner Summit on I80 from Visalia to Reno. That can be closed due to snow and can also require that you mount chains.
As for us...we leave in the beginning of January heading to Phoenix, then Dallas to see Bush's just opened presidential library, then on to New Orleans and then to Miami and Key West. No specific dates or reservations, we just ramble on.
Very good point. I think we need a new route through that area, with kids I don't think its a good idea to risk the snow issues there - RayChezExplorerWe do not need to leave because of cold weather yet, the weather here now is around 85 degrees, but we are leaving Oct 24th for a Gulf Stream Internationl rally in Laughlin, Nev. until the 31st, then we will caravan to Death Valley and spend another two weeks within that area of Furnace Creek. Should be lots of fun. The weather should be perfect in that time of the year.

Hit the road a week from today to join PackerBacker at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. Difference is I only get to stay for 3 weeks this trip. However, sometime in January, I head for Florida to skip most of the winter.
