- RLS7201Explorer IIMy 95 Bounder is on the same chassis as your MH. I tow 3500# and leave the OD on unless the tranny starts hunting on a hill. Then I turn it off. This has worked for me for 100,000 miles with no tranny problems.
Richard - phillygExplorer IIAnytime I'm towing anything I don't let the motor lug. If it does, then I take it out of OD. It's really a seat of the pants feel.
- J-RoosterExplorerI use OD when towing when driving over 50 MPH and higher.
- dbatesExplorerI can't answer for your chassis model but I've driven my 1999 Ford F53 V-10 for the past 54,000 miles with the overdrive always on (except on very long and high hills) while pulling my Vibe on a Demco KarKaddy dolly.
- Kayteg1Explorer IIDon't switch OD unless you notice frequent gear hunting.
Even when towing 15,000lb trailer with my pickups, I keep OD on. It downshifts only on freeway overpases or grades. - EckEExplorerHave a different RV than you but I use this way - if tranny is shifting often in small hills etc then take out of OD. Don't want to heat up tranny.
