We have a geriatric Golden with arthritic hips who has always been afraid of open steps and a three legged Lab/Chesapeake mix with a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. We bought a ramp from Costco online. It folds in half for storage and has a ribbed surface for traction. Both of our dogs are around 75 pounds, and we have never had a problem with the ramp not holding them well.
