- IslandmanExplorerWe purchased a used Coach House that was nine years old, still looks just as fresh as the newest ones. All systems work fine, you may want to switch TV sets, ours was a Zenith and we now have a Visio which I like better. They're well built and you won't have problems with anything as far as the coach goes. Have a mechanic give a thorough check to the mechanicals of the Ford E450 chassis before you make a final decision. I think that the best buys are at the factory or dealers nearby, prices are a lot higher out west.

Born Free has not changed their outward appearance until a year or two ago, so having an older model will look like a newer one! Coachman has a more modern look to it. Both are quality units and should serve your purposes if they have been properly cared for.
At the risk of offending any Coachmen owners, (I had one and liked it), I don't believe they are the same initial build quality, as a Coach House (which the OP is asking about). - TripalotExplorerBorn Free has not changed their outward appearance until a year or two ago, so having an older model will look like a newer one! - klutchdustExplorer IIHire a mobile RV mechanic to inspect any rig you are thinking of purchasing. The dollars spent on an expert assessment will be well worth it. So many expensive
issues lie within the walls of a 10 year old unit. Lack of usage can be just as bad as over usage. Tires that look brand new can be outdated and dangerous. Leaks!
Leaks are a deal breaker...
Dealers often times buy units at auction, buff them up and sell them to the public. They then convince you that you need an expensive warranty that when you read the fine print covers next to nothing.
A dealer that was closed recently by the DMV in Garden Grove for deceitful and illegal practices is now opening up under a different name. One in Fountain Valley is just as bad with these used units.
I bought from a private party, flew to Minnesota to get it and it's a jewel. If you have no experience pay for it. Good luck and hope it works out for you. - midnightsadieExplorer II$50K for a ten year old ,sounds a bit much for my pocket. I owned a 2001 born free 26ft was a good well built unit.

Coach House or Born Free
I am looking to by a 24' of either one of these, both about 10 yrs old with low miles. Both around $50,000. Want to travel the country and live in full time. Important that it be small to park and maneuver easy, yet comfortable for a single person to enjoy a bit of quality and class in its appearance.
I believe when new, both are high quality, high dollar RVs. At ten years old, who knows how good either one is ? It depends on the care and maintenance it has had over the years. It could still be high quality, or it could be a piece of junk.
