Which size RV to tow Jeep Wrangler on trailer?

I am researching, and am new to website so I apologize in advance if my post is in the wrong place. I want to know which size RV would be a good size for me to tow my 1999 Jeep Wrangler on a full size trailer bed. I thought about buying a travel trailer and towing with my jeep but really want a tiolet and more space to move aroun in. Considering a C class, but is that enough or should I be looking at a bigger class RV?

  • Sorry, forgot to mention, my jeep is modified and prefer not to tow it 4 down plus the fact that my owners manual advises against the 4 down, so I will probably be trailering it. Will a Class C be able to comfortably handle the trailer and jeep? I'm searching for a small light weight trailer for my jeep, smaller then the ones I seen. Although, I have rented a 6 wide little guy for next month and plan on renting a T@B with a wet bath before the end of summer to see how it tows. I'm kind of leary about towing on highway with jeep, this will be first time this August, and wondering if I would appreciate the extra space of a C or larger. Although I barely seem to fit in the showers of the class C (6ft tall). Appreciate all the comments, thanks.
  • It highly unlikely that any Class C will handle more than a 5K tow. SO the 4 down idea is a good one.
  • i wouldn't tow anything bigger than a small pop up w/ a jeep wrangler.

+1 on what Trackrig says....tow 4 down ! dealing with a trailer or tow dolly is a PIA, where to park it where to store it more maintenance, tags, tires, no thanks !

Our wrangler tows easier & lighter (turns tighter too) than our 16 foot flat utility/car trailer.

the question is how much work do you want your RV to do....for us, we don't even know the jeep is back there - but you don't need 450hp / 1650 tq & 12 speed auto to tow it.
  • It will take less of an RV to tow a Jeep four down than it will to also tow the extra 1,500 - 2,000# of trailer. If your Jeep is really built up, you may want to put it on a trailer, but otherwise, most people don't bother. They tow fine on all four. The trailer is just one more thing to maintain, license, and find someplace to put when you're in an RV park. You can usually pay more for a large pull thru slot - buy why? And if you don't have room for it at your house, it's another storage bill also.

If you don't use a trailer, a Class C will tow it four down just fine.
