Regardless of who changes the oil make shure that the filter is properlly tightened and that the correct amount of oil is poured in to the engine, I have a 6.8L V-10 2001 C and it requires 6 quarts of oil not seven as some folks think.
After the filter and the oil (six quarts) have been replaced start the vehicle and let the oil presshure build, stop the engine and if you check the oil on the dip stick it will indicate that it needsw one more quart, do not add wait about five minuts and recheck, the oil will be at the mark, it takes time for that quart to dripp back into the pan from the heads.
Check your manual for the correct information on the Quantity of oil requiered,
also the transsmition pan gasket is reusable, no need to replace and I have done all of the services on mine since new onlly the two recalls for the cruise control mod where done by Ford.
Note: If you do your own oil change take something like an ice pick and make a hole (small no need to impale)on the oil filter to drain the oil, less mess when taking it off, and do not forget to lube the rubber ring on the filter so that it slides when you are tightening it, the lube prevents the ring from dislodging or kinking and creating a leak.
