Windshield shade motor replacement

Good afternoon,

Both of my windshield shades (2009 Tiffin Phaeton QTH) stopped working. I purchased new shade motors from Tiffin but when I took the shades down to change the motors, I couldn't get the old motors out. Is there a particular position they have to be in before the old motors will come out? Any help you can provide will be of great assistacne.
