windshield wipers

1998 georgie boy 33 ft. 454 chevy, my windshield wipers don't work. in the past they only worked on slow speed. Now nothing. Got any idea what to look for? One time on our last trip they quit and after a while turning them on and off they started again.it has set for a couple weeks and now nothing. Had the motor running and batteries are up. bsandy
  • Hey. My wipers work but I am a firm believer in the use of rain x . Great stuff. I have a 2008 truck with original wipers, I think it all because of rain x and not having to use the wipers in the rain.
  • Not bad to replace if you have to. I had mine tested like mentioned above before replacing. Replaced and not looking back!
  • Wiper motors are not hard to change, see what it will take to get it off, take down to Napa, they can test it, and if bad, give you a new one, and you can say you did it your self! Rail!
  • Hot wired it and if my connections are good NOTHING . Did as bass n bob said, No sound from motor. guess i will have to pay big bucks and have the pros look at it. Ouch
  • pickups suburbans etc used to have a part on the wiper motor called a pulse board. under plat cover where wires plugged in. maybe check it
  • had a similar problem. Look at the wiper motor and have someone turn on the wipers. See if the motor is turning. If it is it could be as simple as a loose nut on the bolt that connects the motor to the blade assembly. Worst case scenario is the bracket between the motor and blade assembly has broken but I doubt that or it wouldn't be working at all. Probably slips when it gets wet. Try tightening the nut and if that is it.
  • BYpass switch and see if they work if you can get to the switch otherwise run a jumper wire direct to wiper motor and see what happens
