Winnabago Aspect 30J 2014

Need the pros & cons of this unit.
  • Thanks for you response Andi & Jim. We are on our second 36ft 5th wheel and want to purchase something more compact . We will be making our decision soon & pray's it's the right one.
  • We purchased a 2013 Aspect 30C this year and have put 11,500 on it with very little problems…most are cosmetic. We traded in our Lexington 27' so we feel that we have tons of room! With opposing slides in the front and slide in back we have plenty of room for the two of us and two large labs.
Most people we have talked to about our unit are concerned about storage…we haven't experienced this as we started out as Airstreamers and learned very quickly that I couldn't take 9 pair of shoes (true story).
Our last trip was three months long and we plan on many more. We tow a Honda CRV and haven't had any issues with towing…even in the mountains. Gas mileage is the same as our Lexington..7-10mpg. The kitchen is small, but we do a lot of cooking outside and if needed, I use the dinette for extra counter space when cooking, but rarely.
We have found ours to be perfectly equipped for our needs/wants. We have levelers, air bags, great TV/sound system, plenty of space for storage on the inside, entertainment system on the outside which is always good for a game or two, the shower is plenty big (both of us are tall), has GPS, backup camera, some tech stuff.
We have had a few problems, in the beginning…levelers wouldn't level (fixed by dealer), couldn't figure out why the house door would lock whenever we lock the front doors with the door lock mechanism …suppose to be that way. Couldn't find the water pump filter (below bed behind a hatch).
The only thing I would change…and we are…is the water filter in the cabinet by the kitchen sink. We had to order a replacement and it was $72! Going to tap that system off and by a Britta filter or something along those lines…those filers are $10.
All in all, our Aspect is perfect size for us. We do not full time, but do stay out for extended periods. We have been approached by many people asking questions about the Aspect…we don't see too many of them in our travels. We have had one recall…something to do with child restraint system….BTW.. if you don't act on recalls…they will refuse to fix things under warranty until the recall is corrected.
If you have specific concerns, let us know via PM and we will try to answer your questions.
We certainly have enjoyed our new rig..so have the dogs as they have more room:) Glad we found it and our purchase was thru Camping World. We would highly recommend it and glad we went the Winnebago route.
Enjoy your search…hope to see you on the road.
    Andi and Jim
