Winnebago support issue

I need help/advice re: an issue with lack of support from Winnebago. I own a 2012 Adventurer with a known defect and they won’t repair it because I am the 2nd owner. There is a corrosion issue on the driver's door that both Atwood and CDI are aware of. Winnebago repaired it at no cost for a friend with the same coach. He is the original owner. I contacted them several times for the last 30 days and get no response.
Thanks,
frustrated owner
update:
Coach was first sold 07/11 and I bought it in 11/13. I registered as the 2nd owner in that month. Is the 3 year structural warranty transferable?
  • For sure it is a Winnebago problem. Every Winnebago I have seen has the same problem on the drivers door. One other problem they have is major leak in eaves on both sides. Winnebago's fix for that was eterna bond tape down each side on edge of roof.

From the Winnebago website (for a new 2016 anyway):

Winnebago Industries’ motorhome warranty coverage is second to none:

    12-month/15,000-mile basic limited warranty
    36-month/36,000-mile limited warranty on structure
Standard 10-year limited parts-and-labor fiberglass roof warranty
The Basic Warranty is transferable to new owners if you sell your motorhome during the warranty period.

Reading this it seems only the 12 mo warranty is transferrable. So it sounds like Winnie does not have to repair it under their policy. Be nice if they would extend the good faith gesture but it appears they don't have to. I've only been able to address a warranty issue outside the period on a very rare occasion and I still owned it.
  • Send an email to motor home magazine's complaint section with your complaint. Often they will send a letter to Winnebago which may be enough to motivate them.
  • My friend's 2012 was also out of warranty, but Winnebago covered the cost to have the door repaired and repainted at his local body shop.

Did you register as the second owner of the coach before the warranty expired. What is build date or date of first sale for the coach? Winnebago has a three year warranty period which could have passed depending on how or when the start date was.

News to me they have a 3 year warranty - mine had one

  • Yes, the OP went back and "edited in" the specifics after 1492 suggested it.
