Winshield protection ClearPlex - Anyone tried it?

In the US there are laws about putting things on windshields. You probably have those in Canada also.

ClearPlex is sold for Vehicle windshield, it is just a film, like a car wrap.

Have you checked with your insurance company? I dunno about in Canada, but in many/most/all of the US, insurance companies routinely replace windshields with no deductible on the theory that they want you to be able to see where the H*** you are going so you can avoid hitting, um, expensive things. Can't hurt to inquire.

Yes, I have a $500 deductible and it will increase my insurance the next year. I do not mind to have it replaced, it is just that if I do, I want to protect it. I was quote around $1200 for one side, in Can $ it comes up to $1650 right now.

Not in Georgia. I have replaced two out of pocket over the years. It was cheaper than my $1000 deductible.

The quote I got included $240 shipping. Windshield itself was $660 and install $250.

In my experience, most policies have glass protection available with no deductible.......I took a rock in the windshield on my DP, called Progressive, repaired or replaced with no deductible.....

If your policy has comprehensive for glass you will be covered. Deductibles are calculated on your premium. It is a choice when you start your policy, comprehensive with low or no deductible is more expensive, higher deductibles mean lower cost.
I would be very reluctant to put anything on my windshield, distortion, glare etc would be a concearn.
Bottom line you will get a broken windshield, it's a matter of how bad, and how long you can stand it.
I am a firm believer in windshield repair. Fix those little ones before they get big.

The Op asked about experience with clearplex windshield protection film. Nowhere was insurance asked about!

I looked at their website and didn't see any mention of RV's, just cars.

I've been on several RV forums for about 10 years and don't recall anybody mentioning that product or any other for protecting the windshield.

I replaced one windshield and had several repairs done on small chips so I'd sure be interested too.
