With Record Rv Sales 2 years in a row, we'll need more sites

I know what you mean. Huge RV sales in our state and not one single new State CG. Where are they all going to go.
As it is, we have to make reservations 9 mos in advance to get decent sites with hookups.

Haven't seen that sort of problem here in the west. From the Canadian border in Washington state, to the Baja. Only problem I've had is making reservations along the total eclipse corridor.

I'm currently in and talking about the West.

Won't most of these new RVers go to full hookup CGs? So the impact on me won't be much if any.

Totally agree, we have property just outside Yosemite NP on Hwy 120 and are in the preliminary stages of planning a RV park/campground. As part of our due diligence,we drove through the existing parks several times every week last summer. Basically from May until October, occupancy was nearly 100%. In addition, the park service and forest service keep closing campgrounds, reducing spaces in the ones they keep open and slowly reducing areas where dispersed camping is allowed.
The problem with developing is state and county planning process. Property is already zoned correctly and it is still going to take 2-3 years before we move any dirt.

Joelm: We are in Oregon now and stopped in Yosemite on our way up from Arizona. That area is in desperate need of another Rv park. I wish you luck in getting it started, that area definitely needs it. Be sure to make it "Big Rig" friendly.

Thanks, it will be, we have over 100 acres so plenty of room. I'll be posting in a few weeks to get everyone's ideas, must haves, pet peeves and suggestions to help us in our planning.

This is an issue everywhere. We find it to be a BIG problem out west, even when sites are $100.00 a night, the new California average for a popular park in a popular place. Two examples....we just stayed at Mission Bay RV Resort in San Diego for a week. $100.00 a night and booked solid. We booked a boating trip on the Sacramento Delta. The RV park in Lodi, California, is $100.00 a night. We called today to add two extra days and will have to move twice to do this. I checked last month for a 40' site at Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone Park, for next year.....already booked.

I know the recession was a terrible time, but camp sights were sure easy to find for about four years. With that said, I just don't see a lot of new parks being built for fear of another recession, even if it's ten years from now when the new park is still paying their loans off.

DSDP Don: $100 per night is offensive and I could actually afford it. What is the park in Lodi so I make sure to avoid it?
