- mowermechExplorer"Would you buy a used coach with residential refrigerator?"
No, I would not. In fact, I walked away from a very nice little Dodge based Class C several years ago for that very reason.
Well, that plus the fact that the generator was missing (as in not installed).
It was a nice coach, too, pretty fair shape, 440 engine, just what I was looking for at the time.
But, 110 VAC frig, no generator, no deal. - conmotoExplorerI would prefer residential.
- dbblsExplorerMany high end 5th wheels come with residential fridge's.

How long can a residential fridge keeps things cold while on a trip? That is, presuming the generator is not running to provide the 110 power.
Our residential fridge (full size side by side Jenn-Air) stays on 24/7 unless I turn off the inverter. Our solar panel keep the batteries topped off while driving down the road. We do have 8 house and 2 chassis batteries so we are well equipped to be ALL electric. The OP didn't say what kind of coach they are looking at or if it is set up to handle a residential fridge while going down the road.
If a coach is built for one, it can handle it!
MM. - liberty2010ExplorerWe have had 2 bus conversions and both had a residential frig.
Our current bus has 2 4D house batteries and we can run about 24 hours before the inverter shuts down due to low voltage. now this is dependent on whether it defrosts or not in that time.
We can run the genset of an evening and in the AM to top off the batteries and get by fine.
Now all that said we are a total electric rig, so to have heat or AC we run the genny. it is a ran full day that we do not run the generator. - The_TexanExplorerI would NEVER buy a coach with a Norcold 1200, for any amount of money. They are a fire hazard waiting to happen. Even with the so called recall done, you are betting 50/50 that it will either break and you buy a new $4000 fridge or it burns and your insurance company buys a coach.......NOT me, I want the odds in my favor.
A residential will operate on the inverter and keep your food cold while driving. Will also work fine while dry camping. Ours will go 3+ days on the inverter & battery bank before I need to use the generator to top the battery bank. - jerseyjimExplorerHow long can a residential fridge keeps things cold while on a trip? - ScottGNomadI might but I would deduct some value because the RV fridge is or would have been, worth a lot more.
