Xantrex Prosine 2.0

Warning to anyone thinking about buying a Zantrex Prosine 2.0 They have a 2 year warranty after that you have an $1600 Paperweight. I have had mine for 3yrs.It faulted in the middle of the night while plugged into shore power. It had an Internal Fault # 0258. Called service center they instructed me to remove all power from the unit to hard reboot it. That didn't work so the told me to buy a new unit. They don't repair them. They offered me 30 percent customer loyalty discount on the MSRP plus shipping and handling.
  • Mine died a while ago, shipped if off for repair, came back unrepairable. I believe that it was the transfer switch that failed so I now have a 2KW puresine wave inverter that won't pass AC and won't charge the batteries.

It's about the only one that charges at 100A and fits the space I have so I went searching and found a "reconditioned" one online for $650.00. Working fine so far. The old one is sitting in my ham shack while I ponder connecting it to my battery bank there.

They are a great unit when they work. Too bad the service has gone for a s***.
  • Had an 1800 give out last Summer. With too many grief stories on Xantrex I moved over to Go Power. Prefer separate components (inverter, transfer switch, charging converter) so only the failed part gets replaced.
  • And that is exactly why I have a Magnum. That's an interesting business model though. They apparently think they are so self righteous and superior that one would gladly stand inline and purchase a new one as opposed to buying an arguably superior unit overall that can also be serviced and has a GREAT customer service department. Sooner or later that attitude WILL catch up with them.

I was interested in one because of the size, BUT before buying one on Ebay I Emailed a repair facility...No parts available for ProSine 2.0. The newer ones are made in China and are having lots of problems.
  • I am just wondering if you did not experience a power surge while on shore power. Did you have surge protection when that occurred?
  • Well, I just put a Xantrex in after the Magnum failed after 2 years. I sent it off to Magnum last week. It also has a 2 year warranty, except if you have a monitoring panel, they extend it to 5 years.

I'm hoping there was nothing wrong with the Magnum and the issue (not inverting) was a bad ground as I suspected when I took the MH into the shop. The shop put 2 inverters in before they chased down the grounding problem. If all goes as expected, Magnum will fix the unit and send it back. I will leave it in a box in the garage so when the Xantrex fails, I can have my neighbor send it to me.

Mine is 9 years old. Original one lasted only one year and was replaced under warranty. Been very happy with it.

I wish your engine would have lasted that long, hows that going anyway?
