I've heard that before also.
I know Freightliner chassis vehicle number is only 6 digits long ( last 6 of VIN) The other characters are from the body builder. So in theory the chassis could be made a entire year before the body builder finished it. Chances are your tires would be even older.
I don't think it happens to much any more since the turn down of 2008-09. I know my engine was made in Jan 2015 and the coach was finished in March 2015 and sold in July. Pretty fast turn around time
The CHASSIS vin IS the complete VIN (17 DIGITS)and designated by the chassis maker. The body builder(RV Maker) does NOT add any digits. They DO have their OWN separate VIN for the Body they install. Doug
