Hey FULLTIMEWANNABE my folks used to live in Dewinton area too.. Glad I read this post and got info on the boondockin' I might try it there next time. We usually only go for a day or two as well to Mex. Oh by the way donfrump I'm laughing at you right now.. What a jerk.. and you have no taste obviously . And ya If there is wifi I like to have it at no cost especially if I'm spending money there. Yup !

FWIW, and YMMV: Last time we were at the Q, this past Sep, we decided to have supper with them, food was awful, cold and took for ever on service, and they were insistent that you had to be a resident in a hotel room to gain access to the wifi and totally refused. Being Canadian, and having an expensive USA travel add on, we didn't want to be charged Mexican rates which it was picking up on our phones there. They'd rather forego your spending a few hundred bucks as many couples do in the Casino than allow you internet access. Have to say that the Q and one other Casino we didn't even stay at were overall very rude. Their loss not ours - our dollars can quite happily go elsewhere where they are shown appreciation as is the norm. NEXT!

Iam canadian also but not as cheap as u are that's for sure

So apparently spending a couple of hundred bucks in a Casino establishment that allows you to stay O/N dry camping on gravel is recognized as "cheap" = REALLY!!!! Their room rate is way less than that including wifi. It's comments like this from some that cause so many to just lurk and read rather than contribute on these forums based on our personal experiences. Please note that I did say For What It's Worth (FWIW), and Your Mileage May Vary (YMMV).

If you don't mind constant traffic and train noise, it's great.

They insist you be a guest in the hotel because most casinos now charge an add-on resort fee that covers internet etc.

This free BLM campground is a little farther north east than you are looking for but if nothing else works for you, this may. 14 day limit. Dry camping only, no services. There might be a campground host, there might not.

The "Veterans of Foreign Wars" VFW/BLM campground on 95 is about 5 miles north of Yuma. (Fortuna Road exit @ I8 in Yuma) Look for the WWII General Patton tank display on the west side of 95. You can't miss it. The campground entrance is behind the VFW building. There is no sign on the road (95) that identifies the campground.

Edit: Yes, 2oldman is correct. Hwy 95 is within 1/4 mile and a well used freight train line is close by. Traffic on the highway is minimal at night but there are a few freight trains that transit the area nightly. The price is right though.

Typically we only stay ON one night, once for two nights for extra work. It's great to O/N to get Los Algodones stuff done the next day.

The Q (Quechan casino) is located at the exit of I-8 on the road to Algodones. Not many campers there as in the years pass. There is a sign stating that RV parking is $10 for 3 nights.
