Anyone Else Pre-Cook ?

I think one of the other variables in pre-cook is quantity. If one has to prepare for a large group, pre-made is definitely a lot easier. Or, a large casserole or lasagna can last my buddy and I a few days of no fuss, no muss eating.

We went to the beach, Fort Pickens, for Labor Day weekend. It was the first time that I've pre-cooked for camping. I made a casserole, potato salad, sausage balls, and froze the hamburger that we bought into pre-made patties. I know that it's not a lot, but it did help save some time.

It really DOES make a difference HOW you will cook when you RV/Camp.

Weekend warrior, those precious 2 weeks vacation, sporting event wildness, snow bird, full time etc.! :B

I've done them all and each food prep and dinner set up is unique to the game, where I am at and what I am doing with the MH.

I full time now there is prepped food in the freezer and always some cooked chicken and bread in the fridge for sandwiches.

When I am 'traveling' and pulling into a CG for just the one night to sleep the last thing I want to do is to have to drag out a BBQ and stand there and cook! I want to pull in, put it in park and open a cold one and put my feet up to rest from driving all day.

On my sporting event adventures it's competition first and then back to the MH for a BBQ cook out usually with several other campers to celebrate! :B

we have our "regular" (close to home) campgrounds that we go to & SIT, sometimes all we do is walk a few trails or the loop around the campground - sometimes we just need to get away from it all and just SIT / Relax & do nothing, no schedule - just relax.

we don't freeze steaks or chicken, but we do love the FoodSaver vac-pac bags.

The FoodSaver vacuum sealed bags are a lot less MESS than the styrofoam trays that the grocery store uses to pack steaks & chicken in.

Before a trip i'll toss the meat & seasonings (dry rubs or liquid marinades) in a FoodSaver bag & vac seal them.

I portion the seasoned meat by meal/daily & then everything is ready for the grill when we're ready....zip open the food saver bag (with a knife or scissors) - less mess and less trash and the FoodSavor bags take up a whole lot less room in the fridge.

we think that camping should be fun and not slaving over a stove is one thing we don't do often. pre cook at home is when you have the time, use a food saver and then just reheat while sitting back and enjoying the grand kids.

We do both. I always make a double batch of some things, like chili, green chili, beef stew, ham and beans. Freeze portions for later and camping. Also, I will make sloppy joes, taco filling etc, freeze half for later or camping. I make 3-4 pounds of burger into hamburger patties (add bread crumbs, eggs, etc.) freeze individually on a cookie sheet then use our cabela's vacuum sealer. Whenever we purchase steaks, chops, etc, I like to marinate for 24 hours, separate into vaccuum freezer bags with the marinade,let freeze and then vacuum seal. It is no vacation for me if I have to do the same things I do at home without any of the conveniences.

We Pre-cook. Love that

Pre cooking, prepping and freezing makes our outdoor trips and holiday entertaining season sooo much easier. I stay atop local sales and keep my chest freezer well stocked with vegetable and protein bargains.

I'm with ya ! cooking is part of the "family" adventure....but on race weekends w/ buddies, I don't have the time (or interest) in standing over a grill....its all about getting the car on the track and eating is secondary.
