Belgian Waffle

I am trying to duplicate the Belgian Waffles you get in many restaurants. I know that many of them use a commercial frozen product. I know that others use a commercial mix. I have purchased all the commercial mixes available and also the mixes in the supermarket. To us, they all taste the same. Rather, they are tasteless. None of them have that unique taste I love in the restaurants. I have added Malt. I have added oil. I am going to add vanilla tomorrow morning. Does anybody have any secret additives to add to a commercial mix. Need some help here.

Thanks,
Bob
  • Possible suggestions: Separate the eggs, beat the whites and fold into batter.
Try using cake or pastry flour.
Use Ghee instead of butter in waffle iron.
  • Belgian Waffle or Standard American Waffle

    It's the vanilla.........

    Completely different taste. Yummmmmmmmmm

I even add a dash to pancake batter
