Beyond Bread Pudding and French Toast

Are there other ways you use your stale bread?
  • Another option - Toast in the oven on a cookie sheet. When crunchy, run it through a food processor for bread crumbs.
  • Stuffing! I use it under pork steaks either done in the oven or the Dutch. You can add just about whatever you would usually put in stuffing. Mine is basically the same as turkey stuffing.

That is what I do....break it in small pieces and feed the birds. Seldom do we have stale bread. Bread, in all forms is one of my weaknesses.

    Rum Sauce
    1 Tbsp butter
    2 tsp cornstarch
    1/3 cup brown sugar
    3/4 cup milk
1 to 2 Tbsp light or dark rum

Melt butter in small sauce pan.
    Stir in sugar and cornstarch.
Pour in milk and stir frequently until it begins to boil.
Continue to stir until sauce has thickened.
Remove from heat, add rum, stir and serve warm.

    Outstanding!!!:C

Toast it, and than cover it with SOS or chipped beef and gravy.

You read my mind Magnus. I'm making bread pudding with rum sauce for a dessert this weekend. I have never made it before and didn't even know how much bread to buy to make it. But the top is covered in pecans and smothered in rum sauce so I'm trying it. LOL!

    Great minds think alike :c
So share the recipe! Rum sauce on French toast served for supper wouldn't be too shabby either :w
