- D_E_BishopExplorerWe save bacon and breakfast sausage drippings in a jar for cooking hashbrowns, new pots, scrambled and fried eggs, all other is cooled until it can be put in a plastic bag and dumped in the trash.
My Mom and Grandma saved bacon and sausage drippings too, all the other was taken to the butcher shop and rendered into baking lard. Crisco came later for baking.
Alright, I admit I was born before WWII and rationing, back then govmt thought it was okay do use lard and not many floks got clogged arteries. - mdamerellExplorerI pour it in a container of folder paper towels. I then use the paper towels to start my campfire. The cardboard drink cup holders from McDonald's also work great.
- Super_DaveExplorerAfter it has cooled, I pour it into a zip lock baggie. This way it doesn't make a mess of the garbage or attract meat bees.
- fla-gypsyExplorerPut it in the garbage
- rolling_rhodaExplorerX2 on using it to get the fire going
- ChooChooMan74ExplorerI put it in the container, then at night, put it on the fire wood when lighting the fire.

we do the same thing here. - cmoecmoeExplorerI let it cool and then put little dabs of it on a piece of foil on the campfire at night. Smells really good and makes everyone hungry. Nothing like the great smell of bacon!
