I'm looking for a digital meat thermometer that has the temperature probe that can be left in the meat while it is cooking. I looked at one at Lowes tonight but I'm not sure how I would keep the cabl...

Been using a Maverick for years. Get the ET-732 or the new ET-733 model. It's rated for up to 716ºF and like everyone says just close the lid slowly and you'll have no problems. Or route it out through a hole. You can buy the Maverick everywhere ... here's the Specs ...
