egg ring?

Sometimes on the road, I'll get an Egg McMuffin or similar from Tim Horton's. I thought it would be easy enough to put one together myself. The only egg ring I could find (the one at Bed, Bath & Beyond) got terrible reviews. Anyone seen one they could recommend? Would there be any real problem with just using something like an olive or tuna can?
  • I've a couple of non stick rings and a couple of stainless ones and they work alright. I think the secret might be to shake them when you think they are done, no jiggle left. I've given up on the non stick, but it's easy tun a knife around them when the are done. finding the right size might take some searching, mine I think are a little large for a muffin.
I wouldn't pay any extra, they are just a ring of metal.

    Egg

I don't know how good this is but seems simple to use

We bought one at BBB and used it exactly twice! Not bad but not really necessary for $25.
  • I cook all of my egg sandwich makings in the microwave.
Spray a Pyrex custard cup with non stick coating.
Put 1 tablespoon of water in custard cup.
Add 1/4 teaspoon of margarine or butter.
    Add any desired shredded cheese.
Add crumbled cooked sausage or cut up cooked bacon bits.
Season to taste (salt, pepper, seasoned salt, ect.).
Whip up one egg and pour it into the custard cup.

Microwave on high for 45 seconds and then on medium for 1 minute. If the egg is still runny in the middle cook on high at 15 second intervals until fully cooked in the middle.

Put the egg between a biscuit or muffin and enjoy.

Cooking times will vary based on the rated output of your microwave.

You can freeze the cooked egg portion and heat it up in the oven or microwave for breakfast/lunch/dinner/snack.

    Experiment with the recipe!
  • We do it all the time! And ours are better than mickeyd's. look for one of these at Walmart BB&B, or at Amazon. Even at some larger Groceries.
    Egg cooker

We use the larger frozen sausage patties, put one in and MW for a bit, then add and egg, break the yoke, and cook about a minute. Dump out onto a muffin ir bun add a slice of cheese, and serve! Total less than 5 minutes.
  • Amazon has a TON of them!! And different sizes and shapes...bought a few different types and sizes from there. Some larger for pancakes, some smaller for egg muffins, and shipped right to your door.
  • Slice of bread. Cut out center with glass. Break egg and break yolk with fork. Microwave and enjoy.

I've used a tuna can in the past. Put a CI skillet atop so it had that McDonald's type of steam. Easy peasy:).
