Food Cover Ups

Maybe the local meat markets/butcher shops will come back into favor. If people patronize them and help them thrive maybe we can avoid the imports. They are still located in many towns and get their supplies from local farmers.

Good choice IMHO. Best food in it's class; in fact food quality is what separated it from it's competitors when the line first started. I was initially concerned when it was bought by RC but had no need to be; Royal Caribbean has allowed the 2 lines to have their own personalities. I haven't yet traveled on any of the newer mega ships under the Celebrity flag but hope to in time. The kipper breakfast in the main dining room keeps calling me back ;).

RC is nice in a bigger, brasher manner and they serve an amazing variety of foods in their buffet area but I only ever ate there at breakfast time.

Oh right and back on the original topic, LOL, can't recall a lot of sauces on roasted meats on ships but if it makes you unhappy one of the nice things about cruising is the ability to really have it your way in any food area with the exception of the buffet's hot food line.

We read the menu. If there is a dish we want but don't want the sauce, we tell them to leave the sauce off of it.

Imported meat also has me bothered. All that whining about fossil fuels and yet the same people promote buying our food from other countries that have to use fossil fuels to send it here.:S
No common sense to it whatsoever.:h

Why is it When you eat out. You order a nice cut of steak or pork chops, etc.
That they want to cover it up with some kind of sauce or cream cr--?
Is there cut of meet so bad they have to hide it?

Because all most ALL of the beef, pork you eat is NOT from the USA. So covering it up is what they must do! :B

Take a look at your favorite beef jerky. Jack Links uses beef from Argentina and as the label states and from 'other countries'.

Yup and now China has been approved to 'process' our chicken. :S
US chickens grown here, sent on a slow boat to China for processing and then sent back on a slow boat from China back to the US.

Yumm, weeks and weeks old chicken processed by China. Expect to see a whole lot MORE of gravy poured on chicken to cover up that mess. :B

The sauce, if properly paired with the particular meat is meant to enhance the experience.

I know we drifted off topic from the steak slime but:
I did a Royal Caribbean in Oct and Carnival in Dec. RCCL has better food hands down. Not knocking CCL, it wasn't bad for the most part but RCCL outdid them in the food dept.

CCL wins in the entertainment dept.

The food on the cruise I took has been better than ANY restaurant I've ever been in.....and I've eaten in really good restaurants in major cities......:)

The Buffet sounds good to me.
DW is into that fancy stuff. Guess I am just too fussie.
Like other posters. Steak and a little salt and pepper. Plain baked tater.

We have been on several cruises and the problem is not finding something we enjoy eating; the problem is stopping from eating too much. :) The variety of restuarants on most cruise ships provides something to suit most everyones preferences.

Dutchmen and I MUST have been on the same cruise ship. the food was great..
