We were having problems with the ground beef from Von's and there were literally thousands of complaints and then like everyone else we heard about the Pink Slime added to GB. We (read that as I) saw great looking GB at Costco, it was in varying size packages around 6 lbs. There is or was GB in tubes and not visible. I bought the bulk stuff and divided into 1 lb packs and fried up some burgers. My DW loved it, good flavor good texture and cheaper than Von's. Ask about it at the meat counter and the butcher said they grind it medium, right there, no additives, no slime and no unidentifiable meat or organs. The tube stuff is questionable in origin and content, yes it's marked as to where it came from but not in English.
Even the DGKs have commented on how much better meals made with the fresh ground stuff tastes. They especially like the texture of the jerky I make with Nesco seasoning and cure.
