Grape salad

I made this today for a picnic. It's worth a bump but the six year old thread is closed. I used lite sour cream and cream cheese. Just to be different I added a drop of grape extract. OP is April Showers.

2 lbs red seedless grapes
2 lbs green seedless grapes
Wash and dry completely

1 8oz. pkg. cream cheese at room temp.
1 8oz sour cream
½ C. Sugar
1tsp. vanilla
Mix all together in a deep bowl with a mixer

Pour over the grapes and gently toss to coat

½ C. chopped pecans
½ C. brown sugar
Sprinkle over salad just before serving.

Very refreshing summer salad.

    This would be a nice surprise to add to the salads. I will make it next time I go to a pot luck.

    I've halved and quartered it. It all works. I usually make the whole recipe when I'm going to a pot luck or picnic. It's different. You can usually count on many potato salads, macaroni salads, cole slaws, and baked beans, but no one brings this.

    Wow, this really sounds good. I would have to do some cutting to make it for one. I would only want to eat it a couple of times before I got tired of it. Grapes freeze good and are delicious frozen.

    I've also used rolled oats in the topping, with nuts and sugar. Pulse it in the food processor a few times. That was good too.

    I use the same recipe as Leo only instead of white sugar in the cream cheese mixture I use brown sugar and omit the topping. My name is "MUD" if I don't make it for our annual 4th camping marathon!

    I use plain fat free yogurt in place of sour cream for a lot of recipes. It works best if you drain the yogurt for an hour or so first. I just use a small metal strainer lined with a coffee filter and set over a bowl.

    My SIL made this for us and we all loved it. I have made it a couple of times.

    DH had kidney stones and can no longer eat grapes, so whenever I see this somewhere, I have to have some.

    A topping I make for grapes or any kind of fruit is:

    Plain f/f yogurt
    Carnation Powdered Dry Milk
    Vanilla
    Splenda Brown or Brown Sugar

    Mix all together

    For each cup of yogurt add 1 tabl,
    of the dry milk powder. This will
    cut the tart taste of the yogurt
