Green Beans Almondine Plus

1 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp slivered almonds
3 Tbsp Major Grey Chutney
16 oz haricots vert (skinny green beans)

Snap the ends off the green beans, then rinse. Steam until soft. Set aside.

In a saute pan on medium high heat, melt the butter. Add almonds and sauté 2-3 minutes or until slightly golden brown. Add the chutney and green beans and stir to coat each bean. Cook until sauce is reduced and beans are heated through.

It's delicious.

I'll be trying this next with no sugar added raspberry jam.
  • Looks great. Did you hear that the creator of the green bean casserole died? She was 94.
  • Only 94? I thought green bean casserole had been around longer than me, but clearly not, as it had to wait on all the condensed soups developed in the 1950s. Luckily, our family doesn't like green bean casserole.

So my recipe will be quite popular in the family, especially since one can substitute whatever flavor of jam appeals.

We served this version with grilled sirloin steak and garlic mashed potatoes. There were no leftovers.

According to the articles she invented in the Campbell's test kitchen in 1955.
