If Ben Franklin had his way you'd be eating Eagle tomorrow!

The idea he had did have some merit. The eagle is a scavenger. I doubt that had the turkey become the national bird it would have passed protection to the domestic variety.
Personally I've eaten wild turkey, the one on legs not the bottled variety, and its decent, but doesn't compare overall to a good domestic bird.
