Kitchen Matches

The gasoline always got me in more trouble than the matches.

Been carrying a big box of matches every since I can remember...they are just part of camping gear

Wish I could find strike anywhere.....the safety matches are not near as good.
Lot of the time the heads just fly off.

As a kid we would have flaming match wars while riding our bikes.
Charge at each other like jousters with our match guns cocked on the ready.
Made match guns out of wooden clothes pins. Spring was used as trigger. Load them up head first..pull the trigger. They would ignite and then fly thru the air like a flaming arrow. Many a shirt will burn holes.

NOT a joke ..... I was about 10. I had a front pocket of stick matches when we decided to play "Army"... I got shot and slid down the hill. Pants began smoking and burning. The burn healed without parents noticing, but I had a problem getting rid of the shredded burnt underwear!! I still can't believe how lucky I was avoiding the wrath of my dad !

Aren't you worried about the trigger moving and the thumb button rubbing on the drawer side? LOL! BTW, I hate those things more than anything. They work great until you put your arm inside the oven. LOL!

I witnessed a guys pants pocket smoking.... he had a few wooden matches in his pocket that rubbed together and set his pocket smoking. No injury... but it's a lesson learned.

I've always carried ours in a metal can with a tight fitting lid. I think rule to follow is to not carry too many in one container. If they should ignite you don't want them to blow a lid off before they run out of O2. A vacuum bag like the ones that use a hand pump should work great, no O2, no fire. I would put them in something like a medicine container before sealing so that any fire from initial sparks wouldn't burn the bag.

Way too complicated for me...I think I'll stay with just rubbing 2 sticks together...but, I keep the sticks safely separated so they don't accidentally rub together as I bounce down the road...

With the onset of these being sold everywhere and so inexpensive IMHO I don't ever see a need to have matches around anymore.

As far as matches being safe stored in a MH where everything is jostled all over in a drawer? Who would of thought a 9 volt battery in a drawer would be dangerous?

I watched a news report where a house burned down from a 9 volt battery.They showed that if you have a couple of battery's in a drawer or a baggie which most of us do all the time if they rub together they can create a fire. They showed how easy it happened......I went right to the drawer in my MH and took out all the loose 9 volts!
