Lost Hamburger Helper Mix

A number of years ago, someone on here posted a mix that was just like hamburger helper. You could mix up a fairly large amount and just measure out what was needed and zip lock the rest. Mixed with your own ground beef, noodles and water I believe was the only thing required. I tried the archived recipes but can't remember exactly what it was called. If the member is still here, please re-post the recipe or if anyone else remember it and has the recipe I would greatly appreciate it.
  • I have made homemade that way using left over roast beef which is also very good.
Just wondering about a dry season packet that maybe could be made up and stored .

Here's a very easy version of hamburger strogonoff:

    1 lb hamburger
    1 med yellow onion
1 can cream of mushroom soup
    mushrooms, either canned or fresh
    1 cup sour cream
    Worcestershire sauce
    pepper (optional}

Cook hamburger and onions, drain. Add mushroom soup, generous dash of Worcestershire sauce, mix and heat to almost boil. Mix in sour cream, serve over rice or noodles.

That was always our favorite also.
I think that one would be hard/easy, easy if you could fined powdered sour cream, but while probably available it might be hard to come by and to afford.
I suspect a person could run some of the recipes on the net that use HB and package everything but the sour cream.

  • This is the basic spice mix....

    1 tablespoon corn starch
    1 tablespoon chili powder
    1 teaspoon garlic powder
    1 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon sugar
    1/2 teaspoon paprika

You can add...for that S. Western kick
    1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    pinch crushed red pepper flakes

    Spice mix is for
    1 pound ground beef
    1 cup hot water
    2 cups milk
    1 1/2 cups elbow macaroni
    1 cup shredded cheese
