Love Camp Cooking but Getting Fat

It's true, the booze adds to the bottom line (aka spare tire), but I was finding that I was packing on the lbs at about a 2:1 rate while camping vs not due to the awesome meals. So I started a new 30 day system and dropped 10lbs in a month doing the shake for breakfasts and lunch with a couple of cleanse days. After 3 months I'm down almost 20lbs and loving it. I almost crave the system and dont want to go back to the slow smoked ribs smothered in sauce...what a dilemna, to go back to the meaty goodness of Bacon, ribs, steaks or stick with the system and continue to enjoy 2 pant sizes smaller.

P.S. - sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum, but figured it was a food post.

  • If you are drinking booze, it can add more calories than most foods. I would suggest drink and eat in moderation, after each meal go for a long walk at a fast pace. I can keep my weight consistent all year by doing this at home and while camping.
  • I've lost 75 lbs over the years by doing "push-aways" (good term, btw!). I need to lose more, and will once we're on the road and hiking a lot!!!!!! :)
  • I do Push Aways - I don't watch what I eat but how much I eat. Lost 25 pounds so far. Works at home and at camp. Oh, and I run 2 miles a day.
  • We found being on the Atkins diet this summer has helped, and is pretty easy in camp. Lots of meat, no pasta and no alcohol. I'm down 30 pounds and the wife is down 15 pounds.
