New Iron!

Double Duty Lid Dutch Oven
Just got this the other day. I've been looking at it for awhile and Amazon had a sale price. I plan on using it mainly for bread: Biscuits/cornbread in the lid, Artisan loaves in the pot. I gave it a good wash and seasoning,( no WD40!)as soon as I got it. It's pre-seasoned but I always hit it again. It's really heavy, got the free shipping! I'll bake in it tomorrow, as I have some sourdough dough in the fridge, (slow rise) so we'll see how she does!

  • I bake artisan in my 2 qt Dutch. I ordered a CI Lodge loaf pan to make loafs.

I'm using my hearth bread recipe and the only problem is getting the bottom and sides browned. Everything else is OK. It's just experimenting with time and temp.

The bread came out great. Wish I could post pictures! It's on the list of things to figure out!

Way to go! If you chance it over a campfire and you'll become a Cast Iron Chef.
