No Refrigeration Meals

We're relative newbies planning on some extended boondocking on our SW US 4-6 month adventure this fall and winter. I did a blog post on tips to extend our meal plan 4-5 days longer than what our refrigerator will hold. Here's the post if anyone else is interested in extending time between grocery store visits AKA, more time camping in paradise:

Tips for No Refrigeration Meals
  • I'm retired military, and even though I hated them then, I keep MRE's in the cupboard for emergences. The newer ones even have heating pouches. A hot meal, as good or bad as these may be, sometimes is just what a body needs.

My wife loves the can chicken, and I like canned sausage.
  • I would take an ice chest and use Dry Ice to provide needed space for the extra food.

You can get 4 to 5 days out of dry ice in a good ice chest.
  • Don't forget "Spam"!

Just saw a friends photos of the Spam museum.
  • Can goods are good! Canned meats (i.e. canned ham, roast beef, chicken) can be used and spruced/spiced to make tasty dishes!
  • Ah!.... don't forget Ramon Noodles! There was a day in my bachlorhood days, I lived on Ramon Noodles! I still keep them around! Ad them to anything or consume them just as they are. If despearte, you can even eat them raw (uncooked). Not the most taste, but makes an interesting snack too!
