I like the NuWave induction cooktop in the RV a lot. Since it is so good in the RV, I decided to try to get a multi-eye unit for the stick and brick. I discovered you can get four burners for a 30” table top. With that info, I started a search of the available units for home use.
I checked my local Home Depot and did a search of the internet. The results were not encouraging. The cost I found for a four cooking element countertop unit started at about $1,700 and others went up from there. Additional cost included a cabinet for the unit and special wiring. Looks like the final cost will be above $3,000. Too much for me!
In addition to the issues above, the features of the house units don’t come close to the features of the NuWave. Just one major difference is that the home units don’t have temperature settings. You can only set the wattage output to the food, and it goes on from there.
This has been a real bummer! We have decided to install two dedicated 20 amp receptacles so we can use two Nuwave units on top of the electric range cooktop. The cost of providing these new 20 amp receptacles is in the range of $500.00. Two full power NuWave cooktops, a convection microwave oven and another independent 20 amp outlet will provide all the capacity and convenience we will need.
Good Luck with your journey!
