While I'm very particular about my coffee, I didn't find that grinding my own to be that important. I've settled on a brand and roast that I like and I transfer it from the sealed bag to an airtight container.
I don't know that this is anywhere close to grinding, but my memory says it's close enough. Finding a grind and roast that is consistent and strong enough to tastes like coffee was my biggest challenge.
