Reforming Pans

We have a very good set of heavy duty hard anodized KitchenAid cookware. SOMEONE dropped the 8 qt. pan and the top 1" is deformed out of round so that the lid no longer fits.

Anyone have a clue as to how to reform it or even who to take it to? I would certainly hate to have to ship it to KitchenAid. Thanks
  • My Wearever saucepan came from a garage sale (50 cents) It was out of shape, probably from dropping, and the lid wouldn't fit. DH pounded it back with a block of wood and a hammer. It gets used almost every day.
  • A wood 2X2 and a hammer is what you need IMHO. I have done auto and aircraft body work. It's simple, but takes 2. Use a bar stool type stool, and use the wood on the pan, then hit it just enough to reform the pan to your liking. Remember the KISS principle, (no insult, just a saying) Keep It Simple Stupid.
  • I would take it to a shop that builds custom motorcycles. Some of them do a LOT of hand forming of metal, and could pound it back in shape in no time.
  • Perhaps a car shop would have the tools needed to reshape?
Hate to say this but depending on the cost of shipping I'd prolly just send it back to KA for repair or replacement.

ETA: if the KA pots are the non stick variety I wouldn't mess with them at all. No idea how that finish is replaced or what is found underneath it.
