RV appliances...

So, I was wondering about things like mini blenders, mixers, toasters, etc.?

My RV is less than 30 foot so economy of size and watts is
important to me.

What are people using?
  • For cole slaw, shred it at home. Zip bag it with the dressing separate. You can also get pre-shredded ingredients at most stores now and add your own dressing.

Most cutting and chopping can be done with knives. We have a whisk for blending eggs and a two slice toaster that toasts our english muffins. The microwave came with the rig.

We plan our menus to use as simple a prep as possible. Most prep work is done at home and zip bagged for the fridge or freezer. Meals needing extra appliances we simply don't fix while we're in the RV. This keeps all the extra clutter of multiple appliances off the tiny counter space and cabinet space. Remember that extra clutter weight can affect your fuel economy too.

Mashed potatoes and other multiple stepped dishes rarely appear on our travel menu. If they do, we use an old fashioned potato masher and muscle. We've never had a need for a mixer when it was simple enough to use the masher or other hand tool that fits in a drawer.
  • Yeah, I can see that. Im scared of too many boxes crowding me out.
But I like cole slaw from a blender...
I like mashed taters from a mixer (like grandma did them all whipped)..
    etc..

I tried doing some English muffins from the broiler yesterday.
It worked fine if you watch them. Seemed like a lot of fire going
    on for two tiny muffins.
  • We make percolator coffee inside. That's about it for the inside cooking.
  • No blender or mixer, we use a whisk for many things.
We have a small waffle iron, two square size .
We have a standard sized two slice toaster.
Many people carry way to much stuff. We have been down sizing after or during some trips. If we haven't used it in the last two trips it goes.
  • Anything "mini" will be a big disappointment. At least it was for me. I use a manual food processor so I can provide more power than the minis.
