Should I just quit smoking?

I really should quit ;) but Im a smokin fool when it come to my food as well.

I love to smoke and BBQ, it goes hand and hand with camping as well. I rarely smoke anything when we go camping due to the lack of a smoker unless were staying somewhere for a week then I will pull the trailer and bring one or three of the smokers along with me.

Has anyone made or attempted to turn their oven and or oven space in the TC into a smoker with access from the outside?

Kindest regards
Ed

  • Very bad idea, and would really involve a lot of cutting up of the camper, which takes the resale value into the toilet.

No conventional oven in my TC, but even if so, sounds like a really bad idea. I don't think I'd want my TC to smell like smoke all of the time. Even still, you'd have to unplug the smoke detector and plug back in. A better idea would be to bring a small smoker with you, and then still have access to use it at home if needed for smaller jobs.

This is just my mind running things thru really fast when I should be working but the box would have to be sealed and access from the outside. I'm thinking 3/16 stainless with both an intake and exhaust piped up the side of the camper. This would eliminate the smoke inside. insulate it and use a sheet metal cover box on the outside. I prefer wood but with the limited amount of space electric would be a better option and has less chance of a flare up.

Ive been camping as an adult since the late 80s and have I yet to use an oven in the camper or one of the cabins.

I'm sure Ill squash the idea before I cut a hole but you never know with me. It may end up being a picture window.

The stainless is a bonus feature as it wont rust with all of the leaks my camper has. ;)
