Tea Time

The last couple of weeks I've been making Lipton Tea in a two gallon glass jug with a spigot. Make it with American only, clover honey. Sweeten in three stages and get it right at the cusp of sweet. It has a flowery finish and doesn't leave a taste in your mouth. That's all I've drunk the last several days, and a little water. It does not affect my Diabetes no where near as bad as Diet Drinks which leave me with a bad taste and acid stomach and seems to almost immediately make the Glucose level go out of whack.
May change my mind tommorrow but this seems to be the case.
May switch to Luzianne, for a bit.
ZI've been searching for that crisp taste of my Aunt's tea. It was made with well and spring water as I did until we moved here.
I may drill a well and seperate line to the kitchen or tap on of the springs if I can find one high enough up to make pressure.
Anyway I am enjoyin some now hot over clear ice cubes with a slice of lemon. Simply outrageous.
  • Doesn't pay to make quite s much tea just for me. I got a glass this evening. It was probably 90 proof.
Didn't put it in the refrigerator as that ruins the taste, I think. It was made to strength to be over ice and the ice to melt partially.
When it is fresh and hot and the ice cracks as the hot tea hits it is the best....and no plastic.
  • Doesn't everything taste better made in glass ? I sure think so. I'm going to try the warm (not hot) water method. Thanks.
  • We use a PUR pitcher to make tea. It takes out all the nasty stuff that even springs can have. I prefer Cains, but Luzianne is good also. Very little sweetner added after a few hours in the sun with some mint leaves.

Right with you: the water does make all the difference. Try it with English breakfast tea too. Warm, not hot water poured over the bags. No boiling. Let it sit about 20 minutes and then remove bags.

As with anything, experimenting until you get it right to your personal tastes is the key.
