Mom mashed hers with a hand masher in the cooking pot after the water was drained off. She added butter, whole milk, salt. Then she'd set the cooking pot into another pan of hot water and slip it into a warm oven while she cut up the meat and made the gravy. She was so organized and made the whole process look so easy. We lost her earlier this year (age 90) and it sure won't be the same without her help in the kitchen.
