I passed on using mine because of the expense of the kit and I use a 10#/2.5g tank and a hose. The difference for me is that the outlet on my Designer is toward the rear of the trailer and I would have to either have a very long hose or use a table. I like using mine near the bay, less effort to pack up.
As far as the small bottles go, when I use them on my 120 I have to use a lot of pressure to get the valve to open.
You are 100% correct. The new trailer in my sig came with the outside tap so I removed the regulator and sourced the hose and other parts to convert. I think everything cost me around $80.00 if I recall. The hose with quick release ends was the most expensive part as I got their longest length.
