What is your Fav thing to make on the road

Ok I am new to this camping thing...unless you count the army. lol

What is your favorite goto thing to make:

In the Camper?

On an open fire?

On the Grill?

If you have time post the receipe.(if you are willing to share it)

If you really have time post for all three and from appitizer to dessert.

Thanks just trying to get ideas on what are good things to make.

  • A crock pot can be one of your best friends when camping! It allows you to get outside and enjoy yourself, rather than stay inside cooking.

I usually make up a chili or spagetti sauce or stew, and freeze it at home. Then toss it in the crock pot, and let it slow cook all day long.....yummy!:)

Open fire....hot dogs on a stick....baked potatoes (you can make a meal of them) or fish (wrapped in alum. foil).....and of course marshmallows:)

On the grill,it's tough to beat a steak or even just hot dogs.....but lots of people will get exotic with kabobs, corn on the cob, etc.

It really is up to what you feel comfortable with....and that comfort level will raise as you cook more and more while camping.
Cold cuts or just PB&Js are great for lunch....you want to do more than cook while camping...no matter how much you may love it!

You want whatever you do, to be easy to clean up and easy to serve....so don't get to crazy with some meal that will require 5-6 pots to make....strive for those quick 1-2 pot meals....your dishwasher will appreciate it:B

We do a lot more happy hours while camping than at home so I like to make appetizers. There are many excellent appetizers in the frozen food section of the grocery store. We (I) make potato skins, mozz. sticks, battered mushrooms and meat stuffed pastries in the camper oven. If I don't feel like using the oven, my homemade pepper jelly over cream cheese on crackers or my smoked salmon spread on crackers is always a hit.

Everything else is pretty much business as usual as we eat what we eat at home.

I have been thinking about this very thing. We often camp with friends and end up making big meals as a group that are a lot of work and even more clean up. The kids don't want to sit down and so on. I think some small kabob type appetizers or at least something you can just set on the campfire grate and let folks pick as they wish is a great idea.
