I-15 with young children

We will be taking the 5 year old twins to Yellowstone in August (along with their parents...we're not crazy):E. Heading up the I-15 from Los Angeles to West Yellowstone. We've taken this trip many times before, and further, but not recently, and not recently with 5 year olds.:h So I ask you all: Have you found any wonderful attractions that should not be missed with children? We plan to take them to the Island at Salt Lake and the Fort at Pocatello. Your thoughts would be most appreciated.
Thanks, and Happy Trails.
  • I did that same trip with my then 5 yearold twins two years ago! We stopped in Vegas and rode the log ride, camped at Zion and rode the tram around the park. From Zion we stayed in Salt lake and went to the dinosaur park (kids loved it)! Salt lake to grand Tetons and then on to Yellowstone. While in the parks the girls loved the ranger talks and did some of the jr ranger program. We all loved it so much we did it again last summer and are planning on 2015 again! Enjoy the trip!
  • Thanks, a nice blog. As mentioned we've traveled that way before, just not in recent memory with young children. Red Rock Canyon East of Las Vegas is a nice turn out for an hour or so, or you can follow the road all the way back to Las Vegas. Indian petroglyphs and lots of ground squirrels. I remember an Indian museum north of St. George just of the freeway. The Island at Salt Lake City is a fun day but hard to find as only one road through a residential area give access. I'm still watching to see if others respond with ideas.
